Bouzouki

Description

The bouzouki is a captivating stringed instrument with a rich history and a prominent place in Greek music. It belongs to the lute family and features a pear-shaped body, a long neck, and typically four or eight pairs of metal strings. The strings are commonly tuned in pairs and played with a pick or with the fingers.

Originally introduced in Greece in the early 20th century, the bouzouki underwent several transformations to become the instrument we know today. It evolved from a traditional three-stringed instrument to its current form with double courses of strings, enhancing its melodic and harmonic capabilities.
